IMPRUDENCE AND MISREPRESENTATIONS
1.”
LILCO represented that Shoreham would cost $271 million dollars; it actually
cost over $5 billion.” (How much will Caithness cost?)
HISTORY OF LILCO MISREPRESENTATIONS
1. “In 1989 a federal jury in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York found in a RICO case that LILCO officials lied repeatedly to the PSC as to the status of completion of the Shoreham project in order to gain rate increases.” (What’s changed?)
LILCO/LIPA DEAL MISREPRESENTATIONS
2.
“That much of the alleged 17% rate savings is not a rate
reduction but is the result of falsely assuming the PSC would grant LILCO rate
increases in the future.” (No rate increase was
granted, so LIPA imposed an illegal surcharge costing ratepayers over $1.5
billion since 2001, according allegations in the LIPA Class Action
Complaint.)
6. “Estimates of
rate savings will not be realized by LIPA if future revenues are less than
projected due to competition, lower energy demand, or substitution of
alternative energy sources, all of which are reasonably likely to occur.” (Without
LIPA’s illegal surcharge, revenues were less than expected although LIPA
thwarted competition, squandered its conservation budget on systems having a
Savings-to-Investment-Ratio (SIR) less than one, and blocked alternative energy
sources by imposing an illegal fuel surcharge on Green Power, including wind
& hydro wheeled from upstate NY.)
