WARNING Radioactive Medical-Waste Smuggling Racket: Huntington to Gershow & Brookhaven Landfill

I. Suffolk County Water Authority (SCWA); Long Island’s Groundwater Guardian

  1. Long Island’s Groundwater Guardian fails to prosecute polluters since 1951 as public & private wells are contaminated by plumes from MGP sites & landfills from LICO d/b/a LIPA/KeySpan, Lawrence Aviation, Brookhaven National Laboratory, etc.
  2. Whistle-Blower Sean Pilger: Alert! The Toxic Plume Beneath Us & In Our Creeks!
  3. Sean wasn't told plumes from LILCO’s MGP sites also contaminated Fire Island & FINS wells with titanium & vanadium, which are not naturally occurring on Long or Fire Island; contrary to SCWA reports.
  4. USGS Report indicates each year billions of gallons of contaminated water pollutes pristine drinking water & kills marine life.
  5. See MSDS for 4 of dozens of toxic heavy metal compounds in Long & Fire Island drinking water: V205  TiCl4  PbS  CdS
  6. 2009 SCWA Report shows tap water is a variable mix of toxic compounds blended to barely pass Safe Drinking Water Act  & SCWA Booklet is misleading and asserts Long Island’s high cancer rates are not caused by public contaminated water. See some old reports to track well closings for 2002 -- 2004 -- 2005 -- 2007 -- 2008.
  7. These 7 sets of well analyses required by law: 2000  2001  2002  2004  2005  2006  2007 show drinking water toxicity varies by year, well location, and  number of active public wells, as determined by water demand & SCWA managers.
  8. Deadly Titanium & Vanadium Compounds polluting Cherry Grove’s drinking water show SCWA failed to close wells, have the Saltair MGP site declared a Superfund site and sue LILCO then LIPA & KeySpan for restitution & remediation costs.
  9. Sean’s Alert based on fraudulent Beaver Dam Creek Report (7/08)

Mr. Vasile-

At your request I have located information on the North Sea Landfill and other Long Island landfill cases.  I also received a voicemail message from Mrs. Knudsen, with whom I understand you are collaborating.  Please forward this to her.

Attached are the following:

For the North Sea Landfill--The State's Complaint; a complaint filed by some of the defendants whom we sued naming additional companies; and the Consent Decree that settled the State's Complaint.

For the Blydenburgh Landfill--The State's Amended Complaint; and two complaints filed by certain of the defendants whom we sued, naming additional companies.

I have also determined that the State has not filed a Complaint to date in the Babylon Landfill matter or in the Port Washington Landfill matter.

Finally, I checked the State Registry of Inactive Hazardous Waste Sites and found no Northport site that could have been connected to LIPA or a related company.

Carmine,
The four third-party plaintiffs in the Blydenburgh LF action were:  Muller Martini, Estee Lauder, Whitman Packaging Corp, and Entemann's.  See attached third party complaints.  If you need further information on the case (Index No. CV 01-3136, EDNY), you can access documents via PACER, a court document retrieval service.
Good luck,
Lisa

Dr. Vasile:

First of all, I am sorry about your son's illness which I believe you told us about when first spoke several years ago.

I am working on getting you any assessments we did on the sites you indicated in your previous e-mail to me.  I just want to clarify something in your most recent e-mail to me below; that is, ATSDR cannot declare a facility a Superfund site.  We are non-regulatory and these types of designations are made by the USEPA working in conjuntion with the state regulatory agencies (DEC).
